First Time Dental Visits for Children
Your child’s first visit should be a happy visit! It is generally recommended that a child is seen by a dentist at six months old or after his or her first tooth comes in. Your child’s first visit is called a happy visit.
Pediatric Dentistry Overview
At Machen Family Dentistry, we strive to make your child’s experience at the dentist positive, fun and friendly.
Sedation dentistry
At Machen Family Dentistry, we offer a few options for pediatric dentistry appointments. We have common in-office appointments, in-office sedation, and appointments at the hospital under full general anesthesia.
Dental Sealants
Sealants coat molars with an air-tight layer that leaves the tooth less susceptible to decay. They’re a great idea for teenagers and children as their permanent teeth grow in.
Nitrous oxide (laughing Gas)
Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective sedative agent that is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask that fits over your nose to help you relax.
Space Maintainers
A space maintainer is an appliance that is custom-made in acrylic or metal material. It can be either removable or cemented in a child’s mouth. Its purpose is to keep the space open to allow the permanent tooth to erupt and come into place.
Mouth Guards
Needing a custom mouth guard or sports guard? Machen Family Dentistry will create a custom mouth guard to fit your needs.
